Bug-O-pedia

Assessment item 2 - Project Proposal

Bug-O-pedia By Lisa Christian

Project Introduction: Bug-O-pedia is an app that I have started creating that has the following features:

Teir 1: Button clicking displays a random bug fact. A feedback rating allows the user to click and rate. A toast message is displayed whenever a button or rating is clicked. A thankyou message is display when a rating is clicked. Images are loaded in the background. Sound effects are enabled. When a rating is selected, it is saved to a file.

Tier 2: A webview allows a form to be displayed, from the web, that allows the user to submit a question about a bug. I am new to creating apps, but I have learnt kotlin to do these projects. I have experience in web design/development, so it would be good if I combine my web skills with app design and development. I also have great general knowledge about insects, due to my past employment as a web designer for PestFREE Sydney. The aim of this app is to be a fun encyclopedia of random facts about insects. So the user can click to get facts, then rate how interesting it is or isn’t. Then they can submit a question about bugs and I’ll research it for them.

Similar Apps Analysis and Novelty: Insects and Bugs – Interactive Learning for Kids: is an app that is like a novelty and teaches kids about bugs. Mine is more aimed at adults and older children. Great for kids but I prefer making apps for anyone – maybe it’s a niche market by targeting adults. Insect Identifier Bug Finder: is a tool that helps people identify a bug by taking a photograph. Looks interesting, perhaps it would be a good extension to my app.

Project design: Preliminary Use Case Realization. Full Use Case Descriptions the purpose is to be an interactive learning and entertainment tool. Project Requirements: This app is made for Google pixel phones 5-6”. Internet enabled.

GUI Mock-up.
